PEDRO CABRAL SANTO
TILT
The exhibition consists of three sculptural works and a video. This group of works alludes to four artists – William Turner, Constantin Brancusi, Giuseppe Penone and Gustave Courbet. TILT also relies on the evocation of the artist’s affective memories, as well as important moments and perceptive mechanisms. Combined with the pieces’ experimental slant, these factors take on a preponderant role in our confrontation with art history and the ethical, aesthetic, technical or cultural values that shape our approach to the artefacts or our creation of an awareness of them. However, a more careful observation always reveals their constitutive fragility.
Pedro Cabral Santo was born in 1968, in Lisbon, where he lives and works. Over the last ten years, he has combined his work as a visual artist with such activities as the curatorship of exhibitions and participations in theatrical shows and musical projects.
