THE GARDEN OF THE WORLD
Cultural Forum "The State of the World
Integrated in the State of the World Cultural Forum program, this series of creative workshops for all ages will take place in the garden. Between June 1 and July 8, this program replaces the usual CAMJAP weekend workshops.
Each day, five different workshops in five different places in the garden.

HERBARIUMS Create herbariums with different materials and techniques with the vegetal elements found in the Gulbenkian Garden.
A THOUSAND WORLDS FOR A SINGLE PLANET This workshop studies the Earth’s biodiversity through the construction of small habitat-boxes from the Gulbenkian Garden flora and fauna.
WEAVING IN THE GARDEN Open-air weaving workshop with different materials and according to various weaving traditions.
SOUND BOXES In this workshop, participants conceive small boxes with the garden’s sound memories.
THE STORY THREAD Creative story-making workshop based on the mixing of different threads and other materials invading the Gulbenkian Garden.
LIFE’S TIC TAC Creative clock-making workshop.
TREE OF WISHES Crafts workshop, constructing small objects, bell chimes and wish keepers to hang in the garden and decorate memorial trees inspired by Western and Oriental traditions.
PATCH WORK MEMORIES Patch work workshop based on the participants’ individual and collective stories.
PERSONAL MAPS Map-making workshop based on the participants’ individual experiences of the surrounding space.
TRAVEL BOOKS AND DIARIES Create your own small books.
SUSPENDED MAPS 3D hanging map-making workshop.
IDEAL SUITCASES FOR UTOPIAN JOURNEYS Through the reinvention of objects of daily use, this workshop creates of suitcases and other travel accessories for imaginary journeys. ALL THINGS TRANSFORMED Workshop based on recycling and reusing materials.
TEXTILE PRINTING Textile printing according to different traditional and contemporary techniques.
PAPER WORKSHOP Explore different techniques to work with paper (origami, collage, etc.).
WIND AND LIGHT OBJECTS Creative workshop of hanging objects from different origins, such paper windmills, flying kites, balloons, animals, weathercocks, etc.
PICTOGRAMS AND ALPHABETS Writing workshop using words of different origins to create new alphabets and new languages.
IMAGINARY GARDENS Create small portable gardens that can be taken home, in the line of mandalas and Japanese gardens.
